NHL betting splits compare the share of betting tickets with the share of money wagered on each side of a game. Compare public betting percentages for the available markets. The figures describe our tracked market sample; they do not identify individual bettors or explain a line move on their own.

Exchange buyers: which side buyers took (Kalshi, Polymarket, ProphetX)
Exchange buyers is not a betting split. On an exchange every trade has a buyer and a seller, so the money is always even. This shows which side the buyers who paid the asking price took. Kalshi and Polymarket publish every trade with the side the buyer took. Trades is each side's share of trades since the market opened, Money its share of the dollars buyers paid, $ traded the total paid (with the last 24 hours in brackets) and $ open the contracts still open (each pays $1).
ProphetX and Novig publish no live trade sides, so they show volume and prices instead: best price is the best odds a buyer can take on that side right now, and $ at price the money on offer at those odds. ProphetX $ matched covers every line of the market, because ProphetX publishes no figure per line.
Novig counts contracts that each pay $1. Spread and total rows show the line nearest the sportsbook consensus and are left out when an exchange has no line within 1.5 points (spread) or 2 points (total). These are exchange trades, not sportsbook bets. Markets with fewer than 10 trades or under $500 traded are left out.
Markets with fewer than 30 trades or under $5,000 traded are shown in a lighter style with a Light trading label, because with only a few trades one or two buyers can move the percentages a long way. ProphetX and Novig publish no trade count, so the same dollar levels apply to $ matched and contracts traded. An exchange row last read more than 45 minutes ago shows the time it is from in the lighter style, and one older than 3 hours is left out.

How to read NHL public betting percentages
Hockey is a moneyline-first sport. Bets % is the share of reported tickets on a side; Money % is the share of reported dollars. Example only: a road underdog at 38% of the tickets and 55% of the money has a gap of +17 points, a larger average wager within the sample, not a predicted result. The puck line (the 1.5-goal spread) and the total carry their own percentages when the source reports them, and a heavy favorite's moneyline often draws the money on its own, so compare all three before reading a gap.
Goalie news and back-to-backs
The confirmed starting goalie is the single biggest late variable in an NHL price. When a backup is announced, the line and the mix of tickets and money can move together within minutes. Compare percentages from the same timestamp, and use the line movement tracker to establish a move rather than inferring it from one split. The NHL odds board shows the top price our odds feed lists for each side, with the book that posts it, and the best eligible price with its quote age when the multi-book feed carries the slate.

NHL consensus: tickets vs money
Consensus describes the side with the largest share of reported tickets in a selected market. Tickets count wagers, not individual bettors. Money % describes the share of reported dollars. Neither percentage identifies the people placing those bets.
Gap is money share minus ticket share, measured in percentage points. The sharp-action flag (the knife) lights at a gap of 8 points or more, meaning fewer tickets are carrying more of the money on that side. The big-money flag lights when a side holds 65% or more of the money with a gap of at least 5 points. Compare the same market and source snapshot. A flag is a pattern in the reported sample, not a win probability and not proof of who placed the bets. Explore public betting percentages across sports or read about recorded line movement.
Where this data comes from, and its limits
Source. Splits are licensed from a third-party market-data feed that samples betting activity across regulated US sportsbooks. Percentages represent that tracked sample, not every dollar bet in America, and different books can show different mixes. Odds are compared across the regulated books we track, and the timestamp on the board shows the last refresh.
How to read it. A gap between ticket share and money share describes the distribution of wagers in this sample. It does not identify the bettors or establish the cause of a price change. The Wise Guy Desk combines these splits with expected-value math and line movement before anything reaches the board, and every resulting play is graded in public, win or lose.
Freshness. The page retrieves the board when opened and when you select Refresh. Board retrieval and source ingestion are separate timestamps. Check the source date before using the figures; a newer page retrieval can carry an older source snapshot.
Frequently asked questions
What are Circa betting splits?
Circa betting splits are the share of bets and the share of money on each side at Circa Sports, the Las Vegas book known for taking the largest limits from sharp bettors. When Circa's money leans one way while most DraftKings tickets are on the other side, this page calls it a sharp vs public split.
Do book splits differ from the market?
Often, yes. DraftKings splits describe DraftKings customers, a large recreational audience, so they can lean further toward favorites and overs than other books. Comparing them with Circa's money, as this page does for every game, shows where the public and the sharper money disagree.
Do the NHL betting splits include Kalshi or Polymarket?
Where Kalshi or Polymarket has a market on the game's main line, the board shows that exchange's share of money and share of trades on each side and the dollars traded (Kalshi on 7 games today, Polymarket on 4 games). Exchange buyers are not a betting split; thin markets are labelled light trading and never count as a vote.
What is NHL public betting?
Public betting describes the distribution of reported tickets on the sides of a market. Ticket share counts wagers, not unique people. Money share describes the reported dollars.
What are NHL public betting percentages?
They show the share of reported betting tickets on each side of a NHL market. Money percentages show the share of reported dollars. Both describe the source's sample.
Does a higher money percentage prove professional betting?
No. It can indicate a larger average wager on that side within the sample. The percentages do not identify the bettors.
Why are some NHL percentages unavailable?
Our source may have odds for a game without publishing ticket or money percentages for that market. Those games show lines and best prices only, and a market that has Bets % but no Money % shows Bets % alone, until the source supplies the rest.
Are betting splits the same as reverse line movement?
No. Splits describe tickets and money at a point in time. Reverse line movement compares a recorded price change with the distribution of tickets. One snapshot cannot establish that movement or its cause.
How often does the board update?
The page retrieves the current board when opened and when you select Refresh. Board retrieval and source ingestion are labeled separately. A recent retrieval does not mean the source has supplied new percentages.
