NFL Betting Splits and Public Betting Percentages

NFL betting splits compare the share of betting tickets with the share of money wagered on each side of a game. Use this board to compare public betting percentages for the spread, total and moneyline where data is available. The figures describe our tracked market sample; they do not identify individual bettors or explain a line move on their own.

Largest money-versus-bets gap in this view: Broncos +2.5 in Broncos at Chiefs, spread. Game: Sep 14, 2026, 8:15 PM ET. The sample shows 50% of tickets and 87% of money, a difference of 37 percentage points. Board retrieved: Sep 13, 2026, 1:44 AM ET. This identifies the largest reported gap in this view. It is not a recommendation to bet that side.
1Bets % vs Money %Bets % is the share of tickets (the number of bets) on a side. Money % is the share of dollars (the handle) on it. Both come from the reported sample for that market, so they describe the market, not any one bettor.
2Gap (pts)Money % minus Bets %, in percentage points. Example: 40% of the bets but 58% of the money is a gap of +18 points, which means the average wager on that side is larger than on the other side. A gap near zero means tickets and dollars agree.
3Sharp πŸ”ͺ (sharp side)The knife lights on the side with the biggest money-over-bets gap when that gap is 8 points or more, and the line under the game calls it the sharp side. Fewer bettors are putting up more of the money there, the pattern most people call sharp action. It is a pattern in this sample, not a win probability, not proof of who bet, and not proof that a line moved because of it.
4Big $ πŸ’° (big money)A side holding 65% or more of the money with a gap of at least 5 points over its share of bets. Favorites often carry most of the money on their own, so the gap requirement keeps this flag honest.

How to read NFL bets versus money

Start with the market and line, then compare Bets % with Money %. Bets % is the share of reported tickets on that side. Money % is the share of reported dollars. A gap can show a difference in average wager size within the sample, but it cannot tell you who placed those wagers.

Example only: a team with 40% of tickets and 65% of money has a positive 25 percentage-point gap. That is a description of the sample, not a predicted win rate. Check the current price and any available line history before drawing a conclusion.

Who is the public betting on in the NFL?

In a selected market, the side with the higher Bets % has the larger share of tickets in our sample. Switch between Spread, Total and Moneyline to compare the same matchup. The most popular side can differ by market, and the sample can change before kickoff.

Thursday, Sunday and Monday NFL splits

Use the kickoff dates to find the games you want to compare. A Thursday game's sample and price can change before it starts, just as they can for Sunday's slate or Monday night. Compare percentages from the same market and timestamp. When a line moves, use a recorded price history to establish the move instead of inferring it from one split.

Compare NFL odds, read NFL game previews, learn how reverse line movement works or explore other sports' betting splits.

NFL spread, total and moneyline markets

The spread applies a points handicap to each team. At -3.5, a team must win by at least four points to cover; at +3.5, it covers by winning or losing by three or fewer. A total compares combined points with the posted over/under line. A moneyline is a wager on the game winner. Read each market's own percentages and price, since they can differ within the same matchup.

Public betting & consensus by sport

Live betting splits, consensus data and public betting percentages for every league we cover:

NFL consensus: tickets vs money

Consensus describes the side with the largest share of reported tickets in a selected market. Tickets count wagers, not individual bettors. Money % describes the share of reported dollars. Neither percentage identifies the people placing those bets.

Gap is money share minus ticket share, measured in percentage points. The sharp-action flag (the knife) lights at a gap of 8 points or more, meaning fewer tickets are carrying more of the money on that side. The big-money flag lights when a side holds 65% or more of the money with a gap of at least 5 points. Compare the same market and source snapshot. A flag is a pattern in the reported sample, not a win probability and not proof of who placed the bets. Explore public betting percentages across sports or read about recorded line movement.

Where this data comes from, and its limits

Source. Splits are licensed from a third-party market-data feed that samples betting activity across regulated US sportsbooks. Percentages represent that tracked sample, not every dollar bet in America, and different books can show different mixes. Odds are compared across the regulated books we track, and the timestamp on the board shows the last refresh.

How to read it. A gap between ticket share and money share describes the distribution of wagers in this sample. It does not identify the bettors or establish the cause of a price change. The Wise Guy Desk combines these splits with expected-value math and line movement before anything reaches the board, and every resulting play is graded in public, win or lose.

Freshness. The page retrieves the board when opened and when you select Refresh. Board retrieval and source ingestion are separate timestamps. Check the source date before using the figures; a newer page retrieval can carry an older source snapshot.

Frequently asked questions

What is NFL public betting?

Public betting describes the distribution of reported tickets on the sides of a market. Ticket share counts wagers, not unique people. Money share describes the reported dollars.

What are NFL public betting percentages?

They show the share of reported betting tickets on each side of a NFL market. Money percentages show the share of reported dollars. Both describe the source's sample.

Does a higher money percentage prove professional betting?

No. It can indicate a larger average wager on that side within the sample. The percentages do not identify the bettors.

Why are some NFL percentages unavailable?

Our source may have odds for a game without publishing ticket or money percentages for that market. Those cells are marked N/A, meaning Not available, until the data arrives.

Are betting splits the same as reverse line movement?

No. Splits describe tickets and money at a point in time. Reverse line movement compares a recorded price change with the distribution of tickets. One snapshot cannot establish that movement or its cause.

How often does the board update?

The page retrieves the current board when opened and when you select Refresh. Board retrieval and source ingestion are labeled separately. A recent retrieval does not mean the source has supplied new percentages.
