Thirty Props, Eleven Games, One Filter

Thirty NFL player props cleared our value bar today, and every one of them came out of just eleven games. That is the tension worth sitting with. The full slate is lit up on the screens, and the math keeps pointing back at a narrow corner of it. How Player Props Work

A player prop is an over/under on one player's stat. The book posts a number, say 54.5 receiving yards, and you take the over or the under. Attached to each side is a price, often something like -115, meaning you risk 115 to win 100. Notice that both sides usually carry that same -115.

That overlap is the vig, the book's built-in commission, and it is why the two prices together imply more than 100 percent probability. Strip the vig out and you get the fair odds, what the market really thinks. A bet is +EV, positive expected value, when the best price you can actually get pays more than those fair odds. Not a prediction of a win. A price advantage, repeated.

Why the Best Number Wins

Sides and totals get hammered into line across the industry within minutes. Props do not. Props are thinner, posted later, and often priced by a model nobody is babysitting. So one book hangs 54.5 at -115 while another has 51.5 at -110 on the same player in the same game. Those are not the same bet.

Three yards of cushion plus a better price is the entire margin in this business. Take the worse number every week and a profitable approach quietly becomes a losing one, because you are paying an extra toll on every ticket. This is the single highest-return habit in prop betting and it costs nothing but a few extra accounts and thirty seconds of looking.

How We Find +EV

We strip the vig out of that group to build a no-vig consensus, which is our best estimate of the true fair price.
