Five Unbeaten Records, One Very Short Price
Five of the ten fighters on this card have never lost a professional fight. One of them, Martin Kozak at 6-0, is priced at -460, which is what the market posts when it treats a fight as a formality. Two more, Quentin Pasley (3-0) and Arlind Berisha (5-0), are matched against each other, so one perfect record is gone by the time the night ends.
That is the Contender Series in a nutshell. Short cards, hungry prospects, thin resumes, and a market that has to guess. Week 5 of Season 10 runs from the Meta APEX on September 8, 2026, headlined by a flyweight fight between a 9-0 fighter and a 7-1 fighter with a price gap wide enough to be the whole story.

How UFC Betting Works
There are no point spreads in MMA. No handicaps, no margins. You are betting who wins, full stop. The moneyline is the price. Christian Natividad is -264, meaning you risk $264 to win $100. Colton Loud is +251, meaning you risk $100 to win $251. A minus number is the favorite, a plus number is the underdog.
The "fair" percentage attached to each price is the win probability once the vig is stripped out. Vig is the book's built-in cut, the reason both sides never quite add up to 100 cents on the dollar. Natividad's fair number is 71%, Loud's is 29%. You can check the price against it: +251 needs to win about 28.5% of the time just to break even, so at a fair 29%, Loud is sitting on the right side of the line by a sliver. That is the job. We are not asking who is better, we are asking whether the price pays more than the risk.
One more thing, and it matters more than any read below. Shop the number. Loud's +251 is at Novig. Kozak's -460 is at FanDuel. Christian Echols' +360 is at ProphetX. Same fights, different prices, and habitually taking the worse one is how a solid handicapper still ends up behind.
Colton Loud vs Christian Natividad
Natividad is 9-0 and priced -264 (fair 71%). Loud is 7-1 and priced +251 (fair 29%). The market is paying for the unbeaten record and the extra pro fight of experience. What it is really saying: Natividad wins this roughly seven times in ten. That is a firm opinion, not a blowout opinion. Loud's single loss is the only blemish anywhere in this matchup, and at +251 he only has to be live in about three of ten runs to make the ticket worth writing.
Kwon Won Il vs Apollo Gomes
The tightest fight on the card. Kwon Won Il is 14-6 at -126 (fair 55%), Apollo Gomes is 12-2 at +122 (fair 45%). Kwon has 20 pro fights of mileage, the most of anyone here. Gomes has fewer trips but a far cleaner ledger at two defeats. The market has this as close to a coin flip with a small nod to the more experienced man. Ten cents of price separates them, which is the books telling you they do not know either.
Christian Echols vs Martin Kozak
Kozak is 6-0 and -460 (fair 80%). Echols is 8-4 and +360 (fair 21%). Note the shape here: -460 means risking $460 to win $100, and it needs to win about 82% of the time to break even, which is above the 80% the fair line assigns. Echols has more fights and more losses. He needs this to become messy and long. Kozak needs it to look exactly like the six fights that got him here.
Isaac Moreno vs Reginaldo Junior
Another near pick'em. Isaac Moreno is 8-0 at -122 (fair 54%), Reginaldo Junior is 11-1 at +117 (fair 46%). Interesting split: the underdog has the longer record and only one loss, while the favorite has the spotless one. The market is siding with unbeaten over accomplished, but barely. Both prices are within a percentage point of their fair value, so there is no gift on either side.
Quentin Pasley vs Arlind Berisha
A light heavyweight fight between two unbeaten men with 8 pro fights between them. Berisha is 5-0 at -147 (fair 59%), Pasley is 3-0 at +144 (fair 41%). This is the lowest-information fight on the card, and the price reflects sample size more than anything: two extra wins for Berisha buys him favorite status. When neither man has been tested by a loss, the honest position is uncertainty, and uncertainty usually favors taking the plus number.
Where the Value Is
The best number on the board is Loud +251 at Novig. Fair says 29%, the price needs 28.5%, and that thin gap only exists if you take the top price. At -264, backing Natividad means laying $264 to collect $100 on a fighter the market itself only trusts 71% of the time, which is a lot of risk for a modest return.
Kozak at -460 is the one we will not build around. Break even sits near 82%, fair sits at 80%, so you are paying two points for the privilege. Echols at +360 is priced almost exactly right, meaning no edge either way. The three coin flips (Kwon vs Gomes, Moreno vs Reginaldo, Pasley vs Berisha) are all within a point of fair, so in those spots we simply prefer the plus side where the payout outruns the risk.
The Picks
Main Event (Flyweight): Colton Loud at +251, Novig
Bantamweight: Apollo Gomes at +122, Novig
Middleweight: Martin Kozak at -460, FanDuel (winner read only, smallest stake on the card)
Welterweight: Isaac Moreno at -122, Novig
Light Heavyweight: Quentin Pasley at +144, Novig
The Prediction
Natividad at 9-0 is the better-credentialed fighter and probably wins this fight. We are still taking Loud at +251, and that is not a contradiction. A 71/29 fight is not a formality, Loud's 7-1 record says he belongs, and the price pays 2.5 times your risk for an outcome the market itself gives nearly a three-in-ten shot.
Lay $264 to win $100 often enough on fights like this and the math grinds you down. Take $251 back on the live dog and one hit covers three misses. Best number is +251 at Novig, and anything under +240 kills the case entirely. That is the read on this number, and the Desk posts a documented free play on days like this one right below.

How does UFC betting work?
Almost everything runs through the moneyline: pick the winner of the fight. There are no point spreads. Books also offer round totals (how long the fight lasts) and method-of-victory props. Favorites carry minus numbers, underdogs plus numbers, and prices vary a lot between books, so shopping for the best number matters.
Are these UFC picks free?
Yes. This is a free Wise Guy Desk breakdown, our analysis, not Ross's official plays. Ross's documented plays are bet with real money and graded win or loss on the members board.
