How to read this: the result probabilities come from the actual betting odds with the sportsbook's built-in fee (the vig) stripped out. Soccer has THREE outcomes, and the draw is priced like a real contender, not an afterthought.

📘 New to soccer betting? The one rule that surprises everyone. Soccer uses a three-way moneyline: you bet Tijuana win, Puebla win, or the draw, settled after 90 minutes plus stoppage. Unlike American sports, a tie does NOT refund your bet, a draw beats BOTH win bets. The total is combined goals by both teams, usually set at 2.5. +EV means the price pays better than the market-implied fair odds (vig removed). Same Five Games, Same Five Results
Draw, loss, draw, loss, win. That is Tijuana's last five. It is also Puebla's last five, in the exact same order. Five points from fifteen for both clubs, with the draw showing up 40 percent of the time on each side. When two teams mirror each other that cleanly, the market has to break the tie some other way, and the usual tiebreaker is the venue. This one is at Estadio Caliente. That is the whole tension of the match in one sentence.
The Matchup
Puebla travels to Tijuana on October 16. Both are coming in off stop-start stretches: a win in there, a couple of draws, a couple of losses. Neither club is riding momentum, and neither is in freefall. We do not have confirmed table positions in front of us, so we are not going to pretend we do. What we do have is the form line, and the form line says two sides that struggle to separate themselves from whoever they play. That matters for the betting markets more than any narrative about who is hotter, because nobody here is hot.
How Soccer Betting Works
If you come from football or basketball, this is the part that trips people up. Soccer uses a three-way moneyline (a bet on the straight-up result with three possible outcomes instead of two): home win, away win, or draw. The draw is its own separate ticket. If the game ends 1-1, everyone who backed Tijuana loses and everyone who backed Puebla loses. There is no push, no refund, no overtime. Both win bets go in the trash.
That is why road favorites in Liga MX look cheap compared to American sports: you are not getting 50-50, you are getting roughly a third of the board taken away before you start. Two alternatives exist for that problem. Draw no bet (you back one team, and if the match ends level your stake is returned) and double chance (one ticket covering two of the three outcomes, at a shorter price). Both cost you upside in exchange for removing the draw as a losing result.
The Numbers
Prices are not posted for this one yet, so we are not quoting any. Here is what to do when they are. Pull the three-way moneyline at every book you have. Then pull draw no bet and double chance, because books price those products with different margins and the gap between shops is often wider there than on the main line.
Also check the total (the over/under on combined goals) and the Asian handicap (a spread in goals, often in half-goal or quarter-goal increments). A half-point difference on a total, or ten cents on a moneyline, is the entire edge in a match this evenly drawn. Nobody wins long term taking the first number they see.
Where the Value Is
Strip the vig (the book's built-in commission, baked into every price) out of the three-way market and you get fair odds. Compare fair odds to the best price you can actually find, and the difference is your expected value, the average profit or loss per bet over the long run. Example math, not this game's price: if your honest read is a 42 percent chance and the best available number pays +150 (risk $100 to win $150), you win $150 on 42 percent of outcomes and lose $100 on 58 percent.
That is plus $5 per $100 bet. Take +140 at a lazier book and the same opinion is worth close to nothing. Our read here is that the draw is live enough on both form lines that paying full freight on a straight Tijuana ticket is uncomfortable. Draw no bet on the home side is where we think the honest number sits, assuming the price is not inflated when it posts.
Conditions
Estadio Caliente, Tijuana. The home side is the one with the familiar surface and the short trip, and Puebla is the one crossing the country. No weather information is available to us, so we are not factoring any in.
The Pick
Tijuana draw no bet. We want the home side, and we want the level result to give us our stake back rather than take our ticket. When prices post, take the best draw no bet number across the US sportsbooks we track you have access to, and compare it to the straight three-way price before you commit. If the straight home price drifts long enough, that becomes the better version of the same opinion.

The Prediction
Two teams that keep drawing games usually draw because neither can push a second goal. We expect a tight first hour, the home crowd stretching Puebla late, and Tijuana finding the decisive moment. Projected scoreline: Tijuana 2, Puebla 1, with 1-1 the obvious alternate outcome, which is exactly why we are insuring against it. That is the read on this number, and the Desk posts a documented free play on days like this one, sitting right below.

Tijuana vs Puebla FAQ
Who is favored in Tijuana vs Puebla?
Two clubs arrive with the identical five-match sequence, and the Desk leans Tijuana at Estadio Caliente with the draw taken off the table.
Can you bet on a draw in Liga MX?
Yes. Soccer's standard bet is the three-way moneyline: home win, away win, or draw in 90 minutes. The draw is a real, often valuable outcome, and a draw makes both win bets lose, which is the biggest adjustment for bettors coming from American sports.
Are these Liga MX picks free?
Yes. This is a free Wise Guy Desk breakdown, our analysis, not Ross's official plays. Ross's documented plays are bet with real money and graded win or loss on the members board.
