What Is a Round Robin Bet? How It Works

A round robin bet takes three or more selections and automatically splits them into every smaller parlay combination, placing each as its own wager. Instead of one all-or-nothing parlay, you hold several two- or three-leg parlays, so a single miss does not wipe out the entire ticket.

How many bets are in a round robin?

Definition. A round robin is a set of parlays built from every combination of your picks.

Worked example. Four picks at -110 played by 2s with $10 on each parlay makes six parlays and a $60 total stake. If three picks win, three of the six parlays win; each pays $10 x (1.9091 x 1.9091 minus 1) = $26.45 profit, so the return is $109.34 on $60.

Count winning parlays given the results (3 winners give 3 winning pairs) and add their payouts.

How a round robin works

You pick your teams and choose the parlay size ("by 2s," "by 3s"). The book then creates every combination of that size. Three teams "by 2s" makes three separate two-team parlays: A+B, A+C and B+C. You are funding each of those parlays with your stake, so a three-team round robin by 2s at $10 a parlay costs $30 total, not $10.

A worked example

Say you like three -110 favorites and play a $10 round robin by 2s. You place three two-leg parlays for $30 total. If all three teams win, all three parlays cash. If one team loses, you still win the one parlay that did not include it, softening the loss instead of busting the whole ticket. That trade-off, more staked for more ways to win, is the entire point.
