Sports betting has one secret most people never learn: sometimes a sportsbook's price is wrong in your favor. That's what +EV is about. Let's start from zero.

First, the numbers. +106 means you bet $100 to win $106, and you get your hundred back too. -110 means you bet $110 to win $100. Plus means you win more than you risk. Minus means you risk more than you win.

Every price is really a chance. +106 says: this happens about 48% of the time.

Now a coin flip. It's 50/50, so a fair bet pays even money. But a sportsbook prices both sides at -110.

Add those chances up and you get about 105%, not 100. That extra 5% is the book's cut. It's how they win over time.

So how do we know what's fair? We compare the prices at about a dozen sportsbooks, take out their cut, and what's left is the market's best estimate of the real chance.

Here's an edge. The fair chance says a bet wins about 52% of the time. But one book is paying +106, like it only wins 48%.

That book is paying you more than the bet is worth. That gap is your edge. +EV means positive expected value: over many bets like this, the math is on your side.

Now the honest part. You will still lose a lot of these bets. One bet proves nothing. The edge only shows up over many bets, so you size each one small.

That's +EV. Next video: how to find these bets on the +EV Board.
